Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for March 2025

Teens & Young Adults Invited to READY2LEAP Event on April 22nd

Paid Internships with Local Employers Available
 

GADSDEN, JEFFERSON, LEON, & WAKULLA COUNTIES, FL – According to Florida Department of Commerce the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.7 percent for March 2025. This rate was 0.3 percentage point greater than the region’s year ago rate of 3.4 percent and was 0.2 percentage point above the state rate of 3.5 percent.

 

Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 3.0 percent; Jefferson County followed at 3.2 percent; Leon County at 3.8 percent; and Gadsden County was at 4.3 percent. There were 7,867 unemployed residents in the capital area.
 

The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in March 2025 were:
 

  • Registered Nurses
  • Software Developers
  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • Retail Salespersons
  • Customer Service Representatives
  • Computer Occupations, All Other

 

CareerSource Capital Region invites local youth (ages 16 – 24) who are not enrolled in high school or college and have low household income to its READY2LEAP event.  Through LEAP, eligible youth have paid internship opportunities with employers who are eager to help them find an exciting career.  This opportunity is ideal for individuals with no job experience!
