Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for June 2025
Jefferson County Hiring Fair Connects Career Seekers with Local Job Opportunities
GADSDEN, JEFFERSON, LEON, & WAKULLA COUNTIES, FL – According to Florida Department of Commerce the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 4.2 percent for June 2025. This rate was 0.3 percentage point greater than the region’s year ago rate of 3.9 percent and was 0.3 percentage point above the state rate of 3.9 percent.
Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 3.4 percent; Jefferson County was at 3.8 percent; Leon County was at 4.3 percent; and Gadsden County was at 4.9 percent. There were 8,823 unemployed residents in the capital area.
The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in June 2025 were as follows:
- Registered Nurses
- Software Developers
- Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
- Computer Occupations, All Other
- Customer Service Representatives
- Retail Salespersons
Career seekers looking to find a new job are invited to the Jefferson County Hiring Fair, taking place on Tuesday, July 22, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Hosted by CareerSource Capital Region, this in-person event is designed to connect individuals with top employers in the Jefferson County area and provide valuable resources to support their job search.
Held at Jefferson County K12 School (50 David Road, Monticello, FL 32344), the hiring fair will feature a wide range of job opportunities across various industries from entry-level positions to skilled career paths. Attendees will have the chance to meet with hiring managers, submit resumes, and even participate in on-the-spot interviews.
This event is open to the public, and walk-ins are welcome. Come prepared to take the next step in your career!
