Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for January 2025

Find a Job Friday: Connecting Job Seekers with Employment and Job Search Resources
 

GADSDEN, JEFFERSON, LEON, & WAKULLA COUNTIES, FL – According to Florida Department of Commerce the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.7 percent for January 2025. This rate was 0.5 percentage point greater than the region’s year ago rate of 3.2 percent and was e       qual to the state rate of 3.7 percent.  

 

Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 3.2 percent; Jefferson and Leon Counties at 3.7 percent each; and Gadsden County was at 4.4 percent. There were 7,879 unemployed residents in the capital area.
 

The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in January 2025 were as follows:

 

  • Registered Nurses
  • Software Developers
  • Computer Occupations, All Other
  • Customer Service Representatives
  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • Retail Salespersons

 

Career seekers looking to find a new job are invited to Find a Job Friday, a mini-hiring fair taking place on Friday, March 21st. Hosted by CareerSource Capital Region, this event aims to connect individuals with top employers in the region and provide valuable resources to support their job search.

 

Held at the Gadsden County Career Center, Find a Job Friday will feature a wide range of job opportunities across various industries, from entry-level positions to specialized career paths. Attendees will have the chance to meet hiring managers, submit resumes, and even participate in on-the-spot interviews.
