Regional Unemployment Rate Announced for December 2024

GADSDEN, JEFFERSON, LEON, & WAKULLA COUNTIES, FL – According to Florida Department of Commerce the regional unemployment rate for Gadsden, Jefferson, Leon, and Wakulla counties was 3.2 percent for December 2024. This rate was 0.2 percentage point greater than the region’s year ago rate of 3.0 percent and was 0.1 percentage point above the state rate of 3.1 percent.  

 

Wakulla County’s unemployment rate remained the lowest in the Capital Region at 2.8 percent; Leon County followed at 3.2 percent; Jefferson County at 3.4 percent; and Gadsden County was at 3.7 percent. There were 6,600 unemployed residents in the capital area.
 

The top six advertised occupations in the Capital Region in December 2024 were:
 

  • Registered Nurses
  • Software Developers
  • Computer Occupations, All Other
  • Retail Salespersons
  • Sales Representatives, Wholesale and Manufacturing, Except Technical and Scientific Products
  • Customer Service Representatives
