Katrina Johnson Named Florida’s Workforce Champion Service Innovator Award
Apprenticeship Program Thrives in the Capital Region Under Katrina Johnson's Leadership & Dedication
Tallahassee, Fla. – CareerSource Capital Region is thrilled to announce that Katrina Johnson, Apprenticeship Navigator Specialist, has been recognized as the statewide winner of the Florida Workforce Champion Service Innovator award at the Florida Workforce Development Professional Summit.
Johnson’s award announcement was made earlier this week at the 2024 Workforce Development Professional Summit in Orlando in front of an audience of Workforce Development leaders and partners from across the state. Florida’s workforce system relies heavily on active and engaged local professionals working in the CareerSource Florida network, and Johnson certainly represents the best in the state.
Johnson’s dedication for promoting apprenticeships and her exceptional success in connecting employers with skilled talent have earned her this prestigious honor. In her role at CareerSource Capital Region, Katrina has been instrumental in revitalizing the apprenticeship program in the region. Her efforts have led to a significant increase in employer interest and participation, resulting in the creation of new apprenticeships and the placement of numerous apprentices in high-demand fields.
“Katrina’s passion for apprenticeships and her ability to build strong relationships with employers and job seekers have made a tremendous impact on our community,” said Trish Yahn, Senior Director at CareerSource Capital Region. “Her innovative approach and tireless commitment continue to help address workforce shortages and provide individuals with valuable career opportunities.”
Katrina’s accomplishments include:
-
Successfully securing seven new registered apprenticeship programs with local employers.
-
Assisting in the placement of apprentices in various industries, including construction and healthcare.
-
Developing and implementing a region-wide database to connect job seekers with apprenticeship opportunities.
-
Providing training and workshops to employers and staff on the benefits of apprenticeships.
“I am honored to receive this award and to be recognized for my work in promoting apprenticeships,” said Katrina Johnson. “I am grateful for the support of my colleagues at CareerSource Capital Region and the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of our community members.”
