Ready to Work

Ready to Work is a credential awarded by the State of Florida to anyone who has successfully passed designated assessments.

Overview

Florida Ready to Work offers online career-contextualized training that helps an individual develop the foundational skills required by most jobs across industries in the US.  The training is self-directed, self-paced, and accessible from any computer or tablet.  Credentials are awarded to anyone who has successfully passed the designated, proctored assessment.  Individuals who have earned Florida Ready to Work Credentials will be considered equipped with the skills needed to enter and succeed in the workforce.

What are the credentials?  

Florida Ready to Work offers training and credentials in the following categories:

Academic Employability: This credential includes Math, Reading and Data.  To earn the credential, individuals must pass three, one-hour proctored assessments validating the mastery of foundational workplace math, reading and data analysis skills.

Soft Skills: This credential includes in-demand employability skils including conveying professionalism, communicating effectively, teamwork and collaboration, and thinking critically and solving problems.  To earn the credential, individuals must pass a one-hour proctored assessment validating the mastery of skills.

Digital Skills: This credential includes computer operations, internet browsing, creating and sharing digital documents, and using common digital communication and security tools. To earn the credential, individuals must pass a one-hour proctored assessment validating the mastery of skills.

Who is eligible to earn a Ready to Work Credential?

Any Florida career seeker.

What are the steps to earn the Ready to Work Credential?

  • Sign up by completing a registration form in the Resource Room or with a Career Specialist at any CareerSource Capital Region Office
  • Receive an appointment from a CareerSource Capital Region staff member
  • Complete the proctored Ready to Work Assessments
  • Receive a Ready to Work Credential, signed by the Governor, once mastery levels have been achieved

Is there a cost to participate?

No. There is no cost for students, career seekers or employers to participate in the program.

As a matter of fact, individuals who earn the Academic Employability Skills certification at an Achievement Level 3, and can pass the appropriate criminal background screen, and are interested in a Paraprofessional position with Leon or Wakulla County Schools can be immediately assisted by CareerSource Capital Region to schedule an interview.
